Initial and Subsequent Session Fee

The session fee at Lara Beaton Psychology as of 1st January 2026 for a standard 50 minute appointment is $240.

It may be noted that the current recommended fee schedule set by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) is $318 and the recommended fee schedule set by the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPi) is $330 for a 46-60 minute psychology session. We continue to strive to make therapy at Lara Beaton Psychology as accessible as possible, remaining well below this recommended fee.

Cancellation Fees

For appointments that are cancelled with less than 24-hours notice or if you do not attend your scheduled appointment, the full session fee of $240 is charged. This cancellation fee is not claimable under Medicare.

Lara Beaton Psychology acknowledges that emergencies do happen. Please discuss with us if you are not able to attend an appointment due to an emergency.

Medicare Rebates

Lara is able to provide psychological services under the Better Access Initiative with Medicare. You may be able to access rebates for your sessions using a valid Mental Health Care Plan and referral from your GP. Clients can access up to 10 rebated sessions under their MHCP, in a calendar year. Medicare rebates with a General Psychologist are currently $98.95 per session. This leaves a gap cost of $141.05 per session.

Please note that a Mental Health Care Plan is not required to book an appointment with Lara. If you are not eligible or do not wish to obtain a MHCP, you can attend appointments with Lara paying the full fee $240 per session.

If you wish to use your Mental Health Care Plan for rebated sessions, please send a copy to hello@larabeatonpsychology.com

Private Health

If you have Private Health Insurance you may be eligible for a rebate for psychology services through your health fund. Please seek eligibility from your private health insurer. We are unable to process private health claims on your behalf, however we can provide you with an invoice that you can take to your private health insurer, to lodge an eligible claim.

Please note that you cannot claim both Medicare and private health for the same session.

Third Party Funding

We are unfortunately unable to provide services via NDIS, Workcover, Open Arms or Victims Services referral pathways. We are unable to provide reports for any third parties, as this is outside of our scope of practice and focus at Lara Beaton Psychology.
